Journal #2 "Your legacy"

Why wait? It’s time to think about what you will leave behind after your time on the "third rock from the sun" is finished. Some people manage to leave a great deal of wealth or a legacy of public service. Others are long remembered for their monumental works of art. A lucky few are long cherished by adoring family and friends. How do you want to be remembered? What will be your reason for being?

I want to be remembered as someone who was friendly, who would smile and wave hello whenever I saw someone I knew. I want to be remembered as someone who got along with almost everyone and who people enjoyed having around. I want to be the person that had fun but also knew when it was time to be serious. I want to be the person that people knew that they could come to if they ever had a problem. I want to be a person that lived up to my potential and never let obstacles I was faced with bring me down. I want to be the kind of person that touched people’s life in a positive way.

I want to be a daughter who made her mother proud. A daughter who took care of my mom when she got elderly and could no longer take care of herself. I want to be a sister, that no matter what, was there for my brother and sister when they needed me to be. I want to be a sister that will support my siblings in whatever they want to do or be in life. I want to be the relative that my family knows that I will help them out in any way that I can. I want to be a wife that is always there for my husband, who supports him through everything. I want to be a wife who honours all the promises I made to him on our wedding day. I want to be a mother who loves and protects her children. I want to be a mother who will let my children know that they can be whoever they want and do whatever they want, when they put their mind to it. In my career, whether I become a teacher or a youth worker, I want to be someone who helped children. If I become a teacher, I want to be a teacher that taught students all they needed to know in order to be successful. I want to be a teacher who was not only nice but strict at the same time. If I become a youth worker, I want to help teenagers who have gone through tough childhoods, like I did. I want to help as many young people as I can because I know that without the help from the teachers and my youth worker, I wouldn’t be the adult I had become.

All in all, I want to be someone who people will look back and remember with a smile on their face. I want to help as many teenagers as I can. I want to die knowing that I made a good influence on the world. I want to know that I took risks and lived my life to the fullest potential.
